Puppy Information

I require a non-refundable deposit of $500 to reserve a puppy.
Litter costs vary a bit by litter depending on my input costs.  Average cost

is $2000-2500.

Puppy pick:  I do temperament testing around 6-7 weeks and I use the results

of that testing and buyer's application answers to help match puppies with

their new families.  I don't want high energy pups going to low energy homes

and vice versa.

Puppies come with:

  • Current vaccine records

  • Current worming records

  • A sample of the puppy food they are on (I am currently feeding Canidae All Life Stages)

  • 2 year health guarantee *click to read*

  • A folder with copies of all dam and sire's health testing records

  • Nomograph results and recommended vaccine schedule.

Notes:

I reserve the right to keep first pick puppy from any litter.

I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

I use Avidog as a helpful guideline with raising the puppies.  In addition, Puppies are raised and socialized with:

  • As many children as I can get around them.  I have my 4 kids and we invite lots of friends over to play when we have puppies around.  Children provide their own level of socialization that adults cannot provide.

  • Chickens

  • Goats

  • Cats

  • My other dogs

I start the puppies on puppy food mixed with raw green tripe and warm goat's milk around 3 weeks of age, but they continue to nurse off mama until 7 or 8 weeks because mama milk is best. I worm the puppies at 3, 6, and 8 weeks or as needed.  I started having nomograph testing done in 2020 and I've been very pleased with the results.  I follow the University of Wisconsin's recommendations for vaccines given to the litters and I suggest that new puppy owners do the same.  The results from the nomograph testing through UW is included in the puppy folders that I put together and send home with the puppies.   I added information to my website from the University of Wisconsin.  You can find it on the Nomographs and Titers information page.

They are free to go home any time after 8 weeks of age once payment has been received in full.  If needed, I am happy to keep a puppy a few weeks longer for an extra cost to cover my time and their second booster and end-point titer depending on that litter's nomograph results.
These puppies are started on crate training, basic house manners, beginning obedience training, and continue potty training.

Taking a puppy into your home is a serious time commitment. It's like having a toddler.  You will want to puppy-proof your home and prepare for potty-training, teething, and training.  Golden Retrievers are very people oriented and do best in families with someone at home for a good portion of the day.  They also need adequate exercise or they can become destructive (digging, chewing, etc).  Gestation is 9 weeks plus another 8 weeks after they are born which gives you time to prepare and research.

Golden Retrievers are Not good apartment dogs.  They also tend to do better in homes where someone is home a good portion of the day.  If everyone works outside the home in your family, they may not be the best breed for you.
